AW13

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7

This week I've had an affair with eBay and relatively unknown brand, Choies- an absolute gem of a website stocking the very best from China and surrounding areas, keeping on the pulse of the popular fashion market. As you can tell, my palette of colours is drastically decreasing by the season. This time, I have mostly fallen for burnt oranges and blacks (and a solid bit of blue china print- what IS it about this trend??).

Starting off with a favourite of mine from Choies (if only I had the legs for it...) is this gorgeous baroque print playsuit. Made from jersey and looking like you could sleep in it, it's so comfy- this is the perfect combo for Spring- Autumn transition. Not only does it conform to AW13 trends, but provides a quirky edge of the sport luxe look. Teamed with this Casio rip-off, bright orange handbag and some killer heels, you could rival Rita Ora. Easy.

Another orange-black look I'm after is thistongue-in-cheek take on the Celine tee that's been featured by the FROW, tucked into this patent A-line skirt from ASOS. The t-shirt is a steal (only £7 from eBay!) so it's probably going to end up in my shopping basket at the end of this month. The skirt is also prime material for next season; patent, PVC and wet-look are all key if you want to stay on top of your trends!

Finally, these shoes are to die for. At a cool £80 or so (and these Topshop ones following closely behind) I'm putting them on reserve for after my next pay cheque. But how.awesome.are.they?! SS's answer to grunge, they are perfect for all weathers (although apparently the weather's picking up again, so maybe save them for a rainy day..!).

That's my up-to-date lust list! What's on yours?

#VintSetFest with The Vintage Set, Birmingham

Thursday, 25 July 2013

Yesterday I attended a fab little pop-up event at The Custard Factory in Birmingham as organised by The Vintage Set and Tiger Bam Comms. Having never been to Birmingham before I set off early to explore the city and have a good look at the mid-season sales!

I arrived and grabbed a map from the tourist information point (cue strange looks from people) and made my way to the bullring shopping center where I found the famous Birmingham bull..
Having wondered around for a bit, I met up with fellow bloggers Jess, Paige a and Talia for a Nando's and more shopping...

After a replenishing Starbucks we made our way down to The Custard Factory and what a fab joint it is! If you get the chance to visit Birmingham, make the effort to go down there and have a look. If you like boutique shops and kooky street art then this is the place for you (even if it did mean having to endure cat calls from dodgy blokes through the streets of Digbeth to get there...)

Me and the girls made it to the event and after a welcome drink and gift (I got a bronze eyeshadow palette!) we headed inside. Within 5 minutes I'd nabbed myself this cute velveteen textured jumper from The Vintage Set and made my way to the swap rail where I traded in a couple of items for this navy handbag and rose textured crop top.

We then received our goody bags and ferreted through them to see what we'd got. Amongst other things I got some tanning lotion from Little White Lie, some Carmex, a Macadamia deep repair hair masque and 3 nourishing hair treatments with natural oils from Hask.

I also had the pleasure of meeting more of my favourite people- some gorgeous bloggers! Meet Lisette, Holly and Laura. Not to mention the lovely Tori who I'd met previously at Sophia's event earlier this year...
Although I had to leave early, there were some great things going on throughout the event including an up-cycling workshop, a nail artist, a live band (New Killer Shoes), a styling competition and a Q&A session with a panel boasting some of the top names in the business.

A big big thank you to The Vintage Set for inviting me to this event and to Tiger Bam Comms without whom, the event wouldn't have been possible. Thanks and I hope to be coming to another one of your events soon!

Girl Meets Dress

With graduation season upon us, there is a huge need for great dress wear- whether you're graduating yourself or supporting someone who is. And I've got a great solution for you! I found this company through an email sent to me by Secret Escapes who'd matched great dresses to fab locations.... Say Hello to Girl Meets Dress- a company that allows you to hire premium dresses for a fraction of the price!

Take the McQueen dress featured above, for example. You can hire this dress, normally retailed at  £255, for only £39 for a couple of nights- in my eyes, the perfect solution for a formal event. It means you get to don a couture dress without putting a hole in your wallet and not wearing the same thing twice! All done through the post, you needn't put yourself out to get the dress back in time. A fee is charged at the time of hiring to make sure you can easily post your dress back after the event and to ensure that it will get to you in time for the big day! They even run a 'try on' service- what more could you want?!

I've chosen a few of my own favourites from some of their top designers (with some even retailing at £700+!). If you're stuck for a dress over the next coming weeks- this service provides a fantastic solution!

Primark Lookbook AW13

Friday, 12 July 2013

With the Sales season now in full swing, it's time to start getting really excited about the promise of AW13 and all it entails. I was in rapture over the collections during fashion week in the not so distant past (although the drastic change in weather is strangely distorting on my memory!). I vividly remember mourning last seasons collection as a real AW girl through and through, I was devastated that AW12 with its Gothic romance and delicate lace patterns were to end. But how wrong I was! A combination of fantastic tailoring, colour splashing, fur, PVC and lace made headlines at February Fashion Week and it's for that reason that I'm already pining after low temperatures and the ability to wear a jumper without someone thinking you've lost your marbles in this crazy heat.

But what has got me really excited is Primark's Autumn Lookbook for the upcoming season and how GOOD it is! They've been working their way slowly up the high street ladder now, and for a brand that was originally known for it's poor quality and abuse of 3rd world working rates, they've certainly turned things around. Now you can pick up the following items all under £35 and look bang on trend at the same time!

Check out these looks below and get ahead of the curve- I'm picking up PVCs, contrast prints, A-line skirts and printed trousers in the sales to form the foundation of my winter wardrobe! Key colours include nudes, blacks & navys but try turqouise/ aqua and reds to add splashes of colour to your look.
